Template for the Vintage Truck Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Father's Day collection, including these vintage truck cookie designs.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
For these vintage truck cookies, the colors I used are listed below:
- Blue royal icing (I mixed Americolor Royal Blue with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- Ivory icing (I mixed Americolor Ivory with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Gray icing (I used a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- Dark Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown with Americolor Super Black.)
Step 1
Begin by filling in the window and the center of the wheels with white and gray icing. Also, add the gray bumpers and the brown wood lines, as shown.
Once that icing had time to set, fill in the body of the truck with blue icing.
Step 2
Next, carefully fill in the black tires around the white wheels. Then fill in the top wood plank, as shown.
With gray icing, add the door handle, then add the two blue bumpers. Fill in the lower wood plank detail.
Step 3
For the road sign cookie, flood the entire cookie with ivory icing and let it dry completely.
Next, using the Happy Father's Day cookie stencil, I used very stiff black royal icing and swiped it across the stencil onto the cookie.
