Template for the Hanging Necktie Mug Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Father's Day collection, including these hanging mug cookie designs.

This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
For these hanging necktie mug cookies, the colors I used are listed below:
- Blue royal icing (I mixed Americolor Royal Blue with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
Step 1
Begin by painting on a thin layer of white icing for open collar and area behind the tie.
Step 2
After that thin layer of icing had time to dry, add the two side collars and the bottom part of the necktie, as shown. Let this icing set for about an hour.
Next, add the center knot section.
Step 3
Finish the front design by outline the top of the collar and around the sides, as shown. This just makes the collar pop a little more against the blue tie.
Step 4
Once the front icing had completely dried, turn the cookie over and attach the hook cookie piece. I used stiff royal icing and let it dry for at least 4 hours.
After it's dry, it's ready to hang off the side of a coffee mug!
Hanging Necktie Mug Cookie Video Tutorial
The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video I put together below.
Here is the hanging necktie mug cookie hanging off the side of a white coffee mug.
I love using a white coffee mug because it gives the illusion of a white dress shirt.
