How to Make Raven on Pumpkin Cookies
This raven on pumpkin design is the second feature from the witch kit cookie cutter set. If you missed the first tutorial from this set, you can click here (skull on books).
To decorate this raven design, here's a breakdown of the steps below.
Witch Kit Cookie Cutter Set
This raven on pumpkin is part of this new 4-piece witch kit cookie cutter set.
Each of these cookies are 4-inches tall and about 2.3-inches in width. As a collection, they fit perfectly in this BRP long cookie box (12" x 5" x 1.5"). You can purchase these cookie cutters as the 4-piece set, or each one individually.
Template for the Raven on Pumpkin Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs for this witch kit set, including this raven on pumpkin design.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Decorating Process
To decorate these skull on books cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- Burnt Orange royal icing (I mixed Americolor Orange, with Americolor Electric Green, and a touch of Americolor Chocolate Brown.)
- Light Pink (I mixed Wilton Pink with Rainbow Dust Purple.)
- Dark Pink (I mixed Americolor Super Red with Rainbow Dust Purple.)
- Black icing (I mixed Americolor Super Black with Rainbow Dust Purple.)
- Gray icing (I mixed a little of the black above with fresh white icing.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
Step 1
Begin by swiping thick-consistency black icing over the jack-o'-lantern face stencil onto the cookie. (I used the small size.) The stencil has an etched guideline to help align and center the face onto the cookie.
Let this icing set up for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Next, fill in the body of the raven with black icing, as shown.
Outline and fill around the black face sections with your pumpkin color, and add the beak section with gray icing.
Step 3
Next, fill in the wing section.
Lastly, add the outlines and draw on a smile with a food marker, as shown below.
Raven on Pumpkin Cookie Video Tutorial
The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video.
Here's the raven on pumpkin cookies, along with the other designs in this set.
In this Halloween collection you can find the thin witch hat (here's the stencil I used on it), the pair of candles, and the skull on books designs.
For gift packaging options, I love this BRP long cookie box (12" x 5" x 1.5"). All four cookies fit perfectly with wiggle room to seal them in heat-sealed cello bags.
