Template for the Halloween Pumpkin Mug Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Halloween collection, including this Halloween Pumpkin Mug cookie set.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Decorating Process
For the colors used for these Pumpkin Mug cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- White flood royal icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Light Blue flood icing (I mixed Americolor Wedgewood with a touch of Super Black.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Burnt Orange icing (I mixed Americolor Orange with a touch of Warm Brown.)
- Dark Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- Pink icing (I used a tiny amount of Americolor Tulip Red.)
Step 1
For the bottom pumpkin mug cookie, begin by adding the black jack-o'-lantern face detail. I did this by swiping black icing over this Jack-o-lantern face cookie stencil (the Large size.)
Then I filled in the outer sections of the pumpkin mug with orange icing. Let this icing set up for about 15 minutes.
Step 2
Next, fill in the areas around the black face details, as shown. Add another layer for the handle detail.
Lastly, for a little pizzazz, I added white dots to the eye holes. This is totally optional though.
Step 3
For the top whipped cream ghost cookie, begin by painting (with a food-only paintbrush) a thin layer of black icing where the eyes and mouth will be.
Then fill in the cinnamon stick section with brown icing. Let this icing dry.
Step 4
Next, outline the eye and mouth holes with black icing. Let this icing set.
Then fill around the face details with white icing, as shown. Quickly add two orange dots for the cheeks.
Step 5
Lastly, add a pink tongue and two white dots in the eye holes. For dimension, I outlined the cream ghost in light blue icing, and outlined the cinnamon stick in brown icing, as shown.
