Template for the Halloween Ghost Dog and Cat Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Halloween collection, including this Halloween ghost pets cookie set.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Decorating Process
For the colors used for these Ghost pet cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- White flood royal icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Light Blue flood icing (I mixed Americolor Wedgewood with a touch of Super Black.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Gray icing (I just used a tiny amount of Super Black.)
- Gold icing (I mixed Americolor Orange, Americolor Electric Green, Americolor Egg Yellow, with a touch of Americolor Chocolate Brown.)
- Burnt Orange icing (I mixed Americolor Orange with a touch of Warm Brown.)
- Dark Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- Pink icing (I used a tiny amount of Americolor Tulip Red.)
Step 1
I'll be showing the dog design, but the same steps apply to the cat as well.
Begin by outlining and flooding the white area of the ghost sheet, as shown.
Then fill in the eye holes, the ears, the tail, and the outer toes of the dog. I used a gold color but you can use whatever pet color you would like.
Step 2
Next, add the jack-o'-lantern face to the middle, add the two eyes with black then a white dot accent, and then add the remaining middle toes and lower lip. Let this icing set up for about 20 minutes.
Then add the outer pumpkin area with orange icing around the black face details. Add the upper snout on top of the lower lip, as shown.
Step 3
To finish these cookies, add the nose, the black handles of the pumpkin bucket, and a light blue outline around the sheet. Here is the finished ghost dog cookie.
And this is the finished ghost cat cookie.
