Robot Cookie Cutter
This modern robot cookie cutter is available in a two sizes, but for this tutorial I used the LARGE size.
When assembled, this cookie would fit nicely in this rectangular 3 3/4″ x 5 3/8″ boxes from Clearbags.com.
Template for the Robot Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Valentine cookie collection, including this robot cookie set design.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
To decorate these love bird cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- Teal royal icing. (I mixed Americolor Regal Purple with Forest Green.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Pink icing (I mixed Wilton Rose with Americolor Regal Purple.)
Step 1
Begin by first filling in the head and outer arm sections with white icing. Let this icing set for about 20 minutes.
Then add the teal ear sections and the white body, as shown.
Step 2
Next, add the two black screens for the face and chest, and add the teal body sections. Let this icing dry for about an hour.
Lastly, add the eyes, smile, and pink heart.
Robot Cookie Video Tutorial
The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video I put together below.
To help elevate the presentation of these Valentine robot cookies, we have new pre-printed cookie tags in our shop! We created a Valentine Robot tag that would coordinate perfectly with these robot cookies for Valentine's Day.
The tag is double-sided with a different robot pun on each side. On one side it says, "My heart beeps for you!" and on the other it states, "You compute me!"
I love these robot cookies because they are an unconventional design for Valentine's Day that any one would love to receive as a gift.
