Decorate an Easter Lamb Cookie

This sweet design features a fluffy lamb sitting with its little hooves out, making it a charming addition to any Easter cookie set. Whether you're new to royal icing or looking for a fun seasonal project, this step-by-step tutorial will guide you through creating this cute cookie with ease. Plus, the matching cookie cutter is available in our shop, so you can follow along and bring this festive lamb to life!
Easter Lamb Cookie Cutter
Just added to the shop for the upcoming Easter season is this Chubby Easter Lamb cookie cutter. It's one of the designs from this 3-piece Chubby Easter Animal cookie cutter set.
For this tutorial, I'll be decorating the LARGE size version.

Template for the Easter Lamb Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the new Easter cookie cutter designs, including this Easter lamb cookie.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by cutting out the template and tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
Decorating cookies always starts with a good royal icing recipe. This is the royal icing recipe that I always use.
For this Easter lamb cookie, you will need the following suggested colors (I've added the colors for the other animals as well):
- Tan icing (I mixed Americolor Taupe with a touch of Americolor Warm Brown and a touch of Americolor Electric Green.)
- Yellow icing (I mixed Americolor Egg Yellow with a touch of Americolor Taupe.)
- Light Pink icing (I used Wilton Pink with a touch of Americolor Taupe.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Orange icing (I used Americolor Orange.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Dark Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown and Americolor Super Black.)
Step 1
Begin by filling in the face area with tan icing. (I avoided the eye areas but I'm not sure if that was a good idea. I would just fill the whole face next time.)
Let that set, then add the ears and the tiny white arm sections.

Step 2
Next, fill in the top and bottom remaining sections with white icing. Let this icing set.
Add the dark brown hooves over the white icing and add the white wool puff over the face icing.

Step 3
Add the final details like the black and white dot eyes, and the pink nose.
Lastly, I outlined the top wool puff for definition and a white arch over the tummy. I then drew a brown mouth line with this brown food pen.
