Decorate a Raincoat Duck & Umbrella Cookie Set for Spring
As spring showers usher in the upcoming season, we're embracing the rainy days with this adorable raincoat-wearing duck and umbrella cookie set. In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the steps to create these adorable cookies using cookie cutters and stencils from our shop, ensuring that your springtime treats are as cute as can be. Now let's get started!
Raincoat Duck & Umbrella Cookie Cutters & Stencils
Just added to the shop for the upcoming spring season is this raincoat duck cookie cutter and umbrella cookie cutter.
We also have these stencils to help complete the decorating process: Hello Spring Umbrella Stencil & Small Polka Dots Cookie Stencil.
These sets will fit in this BRP cookie box (7" x 4 3/8" x 1.25").
Template for the Raincoat Duck & Umbrella Cookies
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Easter cookie collection, including these spring rain cookie set designs.
Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.
This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
For these duck cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- Gray Blue royal icing (I used Americolor Wedgewood.)
- Yellow icing (I mixed two parts Americolor Egg Yellow and one part Americolor Chocolate Brown.)
- Chocolate Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown with Super Black.)
- Light Pink icing (I used Wilton Pink.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
Step 1
For the duck cookie, begin by filling in the face section (around the eyes) and the hands with white icing. Also fill in the top of the boots with yellow icing. Let this icing set.
Then, fill in the hat and the chest sections with gray blue icing. Also, fill in the lower parts of the boots with yellow icing.
Step 2
Next, fill in the eye details and add the pink tiny mouth area, as shown. Add the coat sleeves.
Then, add the top beak detail, the brown boot soles, and the coat outlines.
Step 3
Finalize the duck cookie by added the yellow lower lip and the two nostril markings.
Step 4
For the umbrella cookie, begin by filling the lower section with a thin layer of white icing.
Once that icing sets, fill in the remaining top section with gray blue icing. Let this icing dry completely.
Step 5
To add a little pizzazz to this cookie I airbrushed pearl sheen using the small polka dots cookie stencil. I love how it turned out and how it kind of looks like raindrops.
Step 6
After the airbrushed dots dried, I applied the message onto this cookie with this Hello Spring Cookie Stencil. I used very stiff white royal icing and swiped it across the stencil onto the cookie.
Step 6
Finish the cookie by adding the dark brown umbrella handle and outline the umbrella top for definition.
