Template for the Pumpkin Spice Mug Cookie Set
To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all of the new autumn cookie cutters, including this pumpkin mug design.
You can download all the 2023 autumn cookie templates HERE.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
To decorate these cozy pumpkin mug cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Light Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Taupe with a touch of Americolor Warm Brown.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Burnt Orange icing (I mixed Americolor Orange with a touch of Warm Brown.)
- Dark Brown icing (I mixed Americolor Chocolate Brown with a touch of Americolor Super Black.)
- Pink icing (I used a tiny amount of Americolor Tulip Red.)
Step 1
For the pumpkin cookie, begin by painting (with a food-only paintbrush) a thin layer of black icing where the mouth will be. Also, fill the top stem area with dark brown icing. Let this icing dry.
Then, outline around the eyes and mouth opening and fill in the orange pumpkin section, as shown.
Step 2
Next, fill in the eyes with black icing. Quickly add the white accent dots and add the pink tongue detail.
Finish the cookie by outlining the stem and pumpkin edges.
Step 3
For the mug cookie, begin by filling in the main mug area. After the icing sets, fill in the handle section, as shown.
Step 4
For the lettering, I made sure the base layer of icing dried completely.
In the shop is a new pumpkin spice cookie stencil you can use for the lettering. Just swipe thick white royal icing over it to apply it to the cookie. The video below better illustrates how I did this.
