Christmas Decoration Cookies Storage Gift Box Idea
When I was a kid, one of my fondest memories of the Christmas season was pulling out the Christmas decorations from storage the day after Thanksgiving. That's when it really hit us that Santa would be visiting in a month's time. Back then, life was simpler. We stored all of our Christmas decorations in used, dusty, cardboard boxes, nothing like in the fancy plastic totes that we have today.
Over the weekend I made simple Christmas decoration cookies. In fact, they were these Christmas decoration cookies.
Nothing too fancy. However, I thought it would be kind of neat if I could dress up the presentation by giving them away in a way that capture the nostalgic feel of my childhood, cardboard box memories. It's a simple idea that doesn't take much effort and is pretty quick to throw together.
Christmas Decoration Cookies Storage Gift Box Supplies
Here's what you'll need:
- Small Cardboard Boxes (I used 4-inch square mug boxes.)
- Sharpie Markers
- Scissors
- Tape
- Mini Christmas Light Bulb Garland
- Tinsel Wire
Instructions
Step 1
To make the mug boxes look more like storage boxes, add hand-written notes like "Christmas Stuff" or "Xmas Decor", and labels like "Fragile" or "This Side Up" with Sharpie markers. You could easily do them by hand, but because I'm a tad bit of a perfectionist, I used my Kopykake projector to trace labels on the boxes.
Step 2
Once the labels are added, tape the bottom of the box. Package Christmas decoration cookies together in a goodie bag or wrap them individually. Insert the cookies in the box.
Step 3
To add interest to the storage box, attach mini Christmas decoration accents that dangle on the outside. I taped tinsel wire and mini Christmas light garland to one of the inside box flaps.
Step 4
Seal the top of the box with tape and the gift box is finished.
These gift boxes were a breeze to put together and would work with an array of Christmas decoration cookies designs. Honestly, I can admit there might be a slight tacky look to these gift boxes. However, wouldn't these fit right in at an ugly Christmas sweater party?
