My cookie friends, Nicole and Casey, asked me to come up with cookie set for Easter that could easily be boxed as a gift option. Their challenge: it had to fit in the popular cookie box made by BRP Box Shop.
This box in particular is the smaller, 7″x4.5″x1.25″ Simplex cookie box. I love this box because the crystal clear window top displays cookies perfectly, while the thin depth holds them in place. The box comes in a few color options as well. I was up for this Easter challenge and here’s what I came up with.
Easter Stick Cookie Cutters
I call this set of cookie cutters my Easter Stick Cookie collection. They aren’t exactly “sticks” per se, but they are tall and thin. The intent was to make each of the four cookie cutters have the same dimension. That way, if you mix and match any these four cookies, they should all fit perfectly inside the BRP cookie box. When determining the proper sizes, I also took into account the chance of spreading after baking. The final cookies should fit nicely in the box with a little wiggle room to spare.
Easter Stick Cookies Template
To help guide you through the decorating process, I made a template of all the Easter stick cookie designs shown below. In the PDF file, you’ll find a template for two versions of each cookie cutter shape.
You can download the Easter stick cookies template HERE.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by cutting out the template and tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
Easter Stick Cookies
The following designs are just suggestions on how to decorate each cookie cutter shape. I know how life can get busy, so depending on how much time you have available, I provided two suggested options: a detailed and a simplified version. Feel free to get creative and decorate them in your own style as well!
Bunny Easter Stick Cookie
This bunny’s silhouette is versatile to work with. You can either decorate a cute, seated bunny that’s dressed to impress, or avoid all the intricate body details by decorating the bunny’s backside.
Carrot Easter Stick Cookie
This carrot is pretty similar to other carrot cookie cutters out there. However, there’s one unique feature. I shaped it in a way that a perfect circle could fit in the center if you would like to add a monogram or graphic detail.
Eggs Easter Stick Cookie
These eggs are like blank canvases. Dress them up with a bow or go simple with wet-on-wet polka dots. Or, do both! Stripes would be awesome as well. The sky’s the limit with these guys.
Hop Easter Stick Cookie
Spelling out the word “HOP” essentially gives you three opportunities to decorate creatively. I decided on going with a garden theme for one, and a peeking bunny for the other.
Boxing the Easter stick cookies all together creates a colorful and cohesive set.
No matter how detailed or simple you decide to go with, I’m sure it will be a gift anyone would love to receive.
