As I'm writing this, half my life is in boxes (and the half is in shambles. Ha!) in preparation for my big move to Florida.

I'm really going to miss all my friends I've made on the west coast, but I'm also eager to get this move over and done with. After this move I can finally focus on this cookie business full time. I have a lot of cookie ideas I can't wait to try and implement, which I couldn't previously find time for when balancing a day job.

That being said, this tutorial will probably be my last post for a little while. However, I promise to pick it up again as soon as I get settled in my new home. In the meantime, here's how to make sleeping star cookies from this Twinkle Twinkle Little Star set.

Sleeping Star Cookie Cutter

In the shop, you can find this new sleeping star cookie cutter.

This cookie cutter comes in a few different sizes. However, for this tutorial I’ll be decorating the REGULAR-sized cookie. Be sure to check out the rest of the designs of the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star collection here.

Template for Sleeping Star Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template for all the designs of the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star cookie collection, including this Sleeping Star cookie design.

You can download the new Twinkle Twinkle Little Star cookie templates HERE.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Decorating Process

For these Sleeping Star cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

For those without a projector, begin by making a guideline for where the star and the night cap should be. I made a template with template plastic from the PDF file above and used a food marker to draw the guideline on the cookie.

Step 2

Using the marker line as a guide, outline and then flood alternating sections. I began with the star body and the the top of the cap first. I let those sections set up for about 20 minutes, then moved on to the lower band of the cap and the white star tip.

Once the yellow star body is dry enough, add the eye lids with yellow icing. This will give the eyes nice dimension. Let the entire cookie dry for about 1-2 hours.

Step 3

The last step is to add all the final outline and facial details. Add outlines around the cap and star body.

With black piping icing, add the eyelashes and the tranquil smile.

Video Tutorial

The steps above are demonstrated in the time-lapsed video below.

These cute little sleeping star cookies aren't that crazy difficult to decorating, which is one reason they are quickly becoming a top favorite cookie of mine.

I hope you liked this new baby shower set. I'm looking forward to doing more themes and tutorials more often once I get settled in my new home.

That reminds me, there's just a few more weeks to purchase items from my shop.

If there's anything you would need in the next month or so, please place your orders before April 25th. Once I get settled, I'll open the shop up as soon as I can.

(I'm thinking the end of May timeframe.)

Thanks for everyone's patience and understanding.
