Like I mentioned in the previous cookie platter post, I tend to keep things simple for the Fourth of July. This new eagle shield cookie set aligns with that same principle of keeping it simple this summer.

Like the star cookie platter, this cookie set is also what I consider a beginner-friendly design. There's not a lot of details to decorate, and the two wing cookies are as easy as they come (just a simple flood and outline). Plus, I think this little eagle is adorable while still being majestic.

Here's how you can recreate this set for the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

Eagle Shield Cookie Cutter Set

This eagle shield cookie cutter set includes two cookie cutters: one eagle head and shield cutter, and one wing cutter. (Flip one wing cookie over to make the opposite side.)

When assembled, this eagle shield set would fit nicely in:

LARGE:  9.5" x 6" x 1.25" box from BRP Box Shop.

SMALL: “5 3/8″ x 7 1/2” box from ClearBags (Item#: KR15).

Templates for the Eagle Shield Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template available for this eagle shield set design as a guideline.

You can download these cookie templates HERE.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Cookie Decorating Process

To decorate this eagle shield set, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

Let's start with the wings. Begin by flooding the entire cookie with brown icing. Let that icing set for 15 minutes.

Then add the feather outline detail on top.

Step 2

For the center eagle shield cookie, begin by filling in the white sections like the eagle head and the white stripes of the shield. Let that icing set.

Then add the lower yellow beak and the red stripes, as shown.

Step 3

Next, fill in the remaining upper beak section and the navy blue band section of the shield. Let this icing dry for an hour or so.

Lastly, add the final details like the eye, the brow, and the white stars. I outlined the top of the shield with navy for dimension.

Video Tutorial

The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video I put together below.

Here's the completed set all assembled. Below is the LARGE size and it fits in this 9.5" x 6" x 1.25" box from BRP Box Shop.

If you're looking for a smaller option, the SMALL cutter set will fit in this 5 3/8″ x 7 1/2” box from ClearBags (Item#: KR15).
