Recently, I’ve been getting questions about the roll-out sugar cookie recipe I use, but realized the original post is a little out-of-date. I’d like to take this time to finally do an official update. Keep in mind that this recipe is just what works for me. Feel free to modify it to your liking.

The leaves outside have yet to change to their autumn colors, but Target has already stocked its shelves with bags of candy corn and trick-or-trick candy bars. How awesome is that? I suspect most people might find this retail trend annoying, the selling of holiday merchandise super early. However, I’m not one of them. I say bring it, the sooner the better. Halloween in Summer? Great. Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving Thursday? Fantastic!

Just like my update to my sugar cookie recipe, I feel my initial royal icing recipe post requires an update as well. When I initially posted the recipe it worked well then, but I realized it is outdated and not what I use today. Over the past two years, I've experimented with other royal icing recipe variations and made a few tweaks until I reached the formula I now use consistently each time I make cookies.
