Cozy Fall Color Palette

With each passing holiday season, I try to do something a little different from what I've done for the previous years.

During the autumn months, I always love seeing the earthy orange, red, and brown color combinations that typically appear this time of year. However, I felt maybe a change up from the typical fall color palettes would be nice. This time around, I had my eye on finding a color scheme that looked a little more modern and unique.

One great source for finding color inspiration for me has always been Pinterest.

Pinterest Inspiration

When I'm on the hunt for color palettes to use for possible cookie sets, one trick I like to use is to search for wedding color schemes on Pinterest.

Often times, these wedding mood boards have color swatches on top with pictures of objects at the event using that color palette. It's a helpful visual on how might those colors work on cookies.

There were two wedding palettes I found that stood out to me.

I loved the overall warm, earthy neutrals, with pops of blue and yellow to add interest. I knew a combination of these two color palettes would work out great for my latest cookie idea.

Mixing Icing Colors

The colors I mixed below aren't an exact match of the colors shown above. However, I think they are pretty close and all the colors complement the others nicely.

To achieve these colors, I mixed the following:

1. Mustard Yellow - Equal parts Americolor Lemon Yellow with Americolor Ivory
2. Stone Gray - Americolor Taupe with a touch of Americolor Super Black
3. Off White - A tiny touch of Americolor Ivory
4. Warm Brown - Two parts Rainbow Dust Chestnut with one part Americolor Taupe
5. Robins Egg Blue - Two parts Americolor Wedgewood with one part Americolor Ivory

Using this cozy fall color palette, I really love how the cookies for this Autumn Leaf & Pumpkin Cookie Cutter Set turned out.

For an extra bit flair, I used the same sunflower fondant molds that I added on these scarecrow cookies.
