IFBC 2013 – One Month Away!
In one month’s time, I’ll be attending IFBC 2013 here in Seattle! I’m excited and a little nervous, to say the least. First held in 2009, the International Food Bloggers Conference (a.k.a IFBC), was the first-ever conference for food bloggers. It’s a 3-day event that focuses on food (obviously), blog writing, and blogger technology. It’s a jam-packed weekend I hope will be both fun and informative.
I initial heard about IFBC back in April when my friend and fellow blogger, Mark of Chowdown Seattle, brought it to my attention. After I learned it was going to be held right here in my town and Mark was already committed to attending, I registered that day. The thought of attending my first ever blogger conference made me extremely nervous, but knowing a friend was going with me did eased my mind.
I really am looking forward to meeting other bloggers and food photographers, in hopes to absorb all the tips and knowledge that they throw at us. Out of all the sessions planned for the event, I'm definitely most eager to attend the food photography demos and the sessions on blog writing style.
Being that this will be my very first blogger conference I’ve been scurrying around the Internet trying to find tips and advice on what I might expect and how to prepare for a conference of this kind. Here are a few sources I thought were quite helpful:
- 3 Surefire Tips to Your Best IFBC 2013- Robin of What About the Food?Great lessons and tips from a well-seasoned, conference attending, food blogger.
- Attending a food blogging conference (the What, the How, and the Why) - Irvin of Eat the LoveA hilarious account of what to expect at a blogging conference and how to prepare for the most possible scenarios.
I'll be sure to report back on my experience, along with useful tips I'll learn at the event.
Have you attended a blogging conference before? Any advice you could share to help this conference virgin prepare for this somewhat intimidating event?
